Course Details
Two one-week courses developing tools to solve, estimate, and analyze modern macroeconomic models.
The first course (August 9th-13th) focuses on the "essentials":
(i) solving models with user friendly software like Dynare;
(ii) alternative algorithms;
(iii) accuracy;
(iv) Kalman filter;
(v) Maximum Likelihood;
(vi) Bayesian estimation;
(vii) MCMC.
The second course (August 16th-20th) focuses on solving and understanding models with heterogeneous agents.
Each day consists of lectures in the morning and tutorials in the afternoon during which participants are taught to solve computer assignments. The computer assignments not only teach the participant an important tool but also deal with a key economic question.
