Gaston Gelos

Advisor, International Monetary Fund

Gaston Gelos is an Advisor at the IMF Institute. Formerly, he held a variety of positions at the International Monetary Fund, including as Resident Representative to Argentina and Uruguay, as well as a researcher in the IMF’s Research Department. His experience also includes working as a consultant for the World Bank, as a visiting scholar at the Mexican central bank, and as an aide to the Deputy Foreign Minister of Germany. Mr. Gelos holds a Ph.D. in Economics from Yale University and a Diplom from the University of Bonn and has published extensively in academic journals, mostly on international investor behavior, capital flows, financial contagion, and macroeconomic issues in emerging markets.
