Gilles Dufrénot is working as research economist at the Banque de France and is Professor of Economics at the University of Aix-Marseille. After working on the econopic policies in the developing countries over the last years, his current areas of research concerns the fiscal and monetary policies, as well as the macroeconomics of the European countries (euro zone and new members). His fields of interest also cover the econometric tools that can help in predicting the economies : nonlinear macroeconometrics based models, panel data techniques. He is currently participating to a research program at the Banque de France dealing with exit crisis strategies, debt problems facing the European countries, forecasts of economic growth.

Research interests:
Exit crisis strategies in the Euro zone countries;fiscal policies and their interaction with monetary policies,;application of new econometric techniques to deals with heterogeneity in the euro zone countries (panel data and common factors) and the time-dependency of economic policies (nonlinear models such Markov switching Models, multiple regime models); determinant of sovereign spreads in the euro zone countries;
